Virtual Experience
To the honorable featured food that made our taste buds sing:
• The BBQs on both the beach and the rooftop; Hats off to the grill masters for these events.
• A zestfully satisfying meal at Zuma.
• Din Tai Fung, can I get some of that delicious dim sum?
• Mongolian BBQ at Nomads, marvelously fulfilling.
• Koh Thai, kind of my favorite type of cuisine.
As for exercise, how does sightseeing with 90% humidity sound to you? Although your face will glow radiantly, the rest of your body may be a bit grumpy; especially when you add in nature’s very own Stairmaster.
Pray
Only God in his infinite wisdom knows the path and purpose of His children. We are only asked to live by faith and trust God – a lesson I am still learning in various parts of my life. What I can say is this, prayer still works and it is at work in the lives of my family, friends, and frolleagues (friend + colleagues).
My heart is filled with gratitude for the friendships life has provided. Moreover, I consider it a blessing to be abroad and to have been given the opportunity to provide what will forever be a cherished memory.
Love
I love the fact that I was able to experience HK as a tourist. I am on the eve on completing my first year in Hong Kong and had yet to visit the Big Buddha, Tai O Fishing Village, the Ladies Market, and Macau.
My first visitors from the west had a wonderful time! Some highlights of their visit include:
• The picturesque views from the Peak.
• The breathtaking (literally and figuratively) observations seen from the Big Buddha.
• St. Paul’s ruins with a side of paparazzi!
• House of the Dancing Waters – a dazzlingly marvelous display of art.
• The Ladies Market, the love of shopping not to mention bargaining!
We received the most love in Macau and although I would like to think it was my mistaken identity of being call M.O., the attention went to the person they may have thought was “The Rock!” After about thirty minutes of posing for pictures and selfies, it was time to go!
Teach
As previously stated, I visited the Big Buddha for the first time. In being transparent, I had put this sightseeing experience off because I had yet to sort out in my mind that it was an excursion, tourist experience, and nothing further. I mention this because I am growing in my ability to meet people where they are in life and let God determine the next steps. Additionally, I am trying to stop being a perfectionist and embrace my imperfections knowing that I am part of God’s perfect masterpiece. That being said, this mindset allows me to live out the golden rule, a rule that Elder Marvin J. Ashton penned as such:
“Perhaps the greatest charity comes when we are kind to each other when we don’t judge or categorize someone else, when we simply give each other the benefit of the doubt or remain quiet. Charity is accepting someone’s differences, weaknesses, and shortcomings; having patience with someone who has let us down; or resisting the impulse to become offended when someone doesn’t handle something the way we might have hoped. Charity is refusing to take advantage of another’s weakness and being willing to forgive someone who has hurt us. Charity is expecting the best of each other.”
