I must say I love omelets for breakfast! My rest and relaxation started with a daily trip to the restaurante del hotel where I enjoyed an omelet cooked to order and my array of local fruits and a dabble of what is now becoming one of my favorites, rutabaga. I found the restaurants to be tasty and priced perfectly to meet my meager budget. This R&R did provide a realization… It is time to become serious about losing my unwanted lbs!

This trip came on the eve of my favorite holiday, Easter. Easter represents the ultimate sacrifice that was made for mankind. “Living He loved me. Dying He saved me. Buried He carried my sins far away. Rising, He justified freely forever. One day He’s coming Oh glorious day. “ The lyrics to that song coupled with the words penned in the hymn “Because He Lives” mean so much to me during this season and truly throughout the year. “Because He lives I can face tomorrow. Because He lives all fear is gone. Because I know who holds the future. And life is worth the living just because He lives.”
‘Because He lives’ is the beginning of any sentence you can ever complete. I even challenge you to have this phrase become your affirmation in the morning, and your confirmation at night. Even as these words are penned, there is a realization that the phrase, “Because He lives,” can stand alone as a declaration. Even now child of God, on this the day we remember Christ’s death at Calvary, look at the situations in your life that appear to be or are dead and say, “Because He lives.” For despite His death on Friday, on Sunday Jesus gave new meaning to the term ‘life after death’ when He got up with all power. Because He lives, your seemingly dead situations, circumstances, and relationships can live too. With Christ, you will live through it.
“And friends, once that’s taken care of and we’re no longer accusing or condemning ourselves; we’re bold and free before God! We’re able to stretch our hands out and receive what we asked for because we’re doing what he said, doing what pleases him. Again, this is God’s command: to believe in his personally named Son, Jesus Christ. He told us to love each other, in line with the original command. As we keep his commands, we live deeply and surely in him, and he lives in us. And this is how we experience his deep and abiding presence in us: by the Spirit he gave us. “ 1 John 3:21-24 (The Message)
Love
I love the fact that I work with wonderful frolleagues who encouraged me through the arduous task of administrating the new state assessment. There were many days when I felt depleted and in those moments the Holy Spirit was there to give me what was needed. Sometimes it was a word of encouragement, other times it was deliciously decadent treats, and in other moment it was a beautiful item I could wear. My frolleagues know me well and I am so grateful to have them in my life. The older I live the more I realize the importance of taking the time to enjoy the highs of life while enduring it’s lows.

Punta Cana is part of the Punta Cana-Bávaro-Veron-Macao municipal district which is located in the eastern province of the Dominican Republic. Punta Cana received its name due to the many cane palms in the region. I picked this location for my R&R because of its close distance to the DMV area. Just think on any given weekend I can be there within 4 hours! While there I even pondered relocating to this region when its time to enjoy my golden years of retirement. Being that I have about 25 years before this becomes a reality I have some time to plan accordingly. 🙂
