I am honored and privileged to soon call HK my new home. I fell in love with HKIS and the country four years ago and look forward to this new adventure!

Eat
Family and friends, I have eaten until my heart is content. From the sizzling steaks, to the sumptuous shrimp, to my cherished favorite dessert, lest I forget the multiple trips to Starbucks for lavishing lattes both in cost and calories, Hong Kong offered me a much-needed culinary delight.
Pray
Something that quickly caught my eye while visiting Hong Kong International School (HKIS) was this scripture “There’s an opportune time to do things, a right time for everything on the earth: A right time for birth and another for death, A right time to plant and another to reap, A right time to kill and another to heal, A right time to destroy and another to construct, A right time to cry and another to laugh, A right time to lament and another to cheer, A right time to make love and another to abstain, A right time to embrace and another to part, A right time to search and another to count your losses, A right time to hold on and another to let go, A right time to rip out and another to mend, A right time to shut up and another to speak up, A right time to love and another to hate, A right time to wage war and another to make peace.” (Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 MSG) Around this scripture were other proverbs that spoke to time, in particular, seasons changing. My soul was not only reminded but encouraged that all things happen in and with time.
I pray that my family and friends remain faithful and encouraged as they wait for God to fulfill their heart’s desires and His promises for their lives.
Love
Hong Kong offered a lot to love. I enjoyed the city and the ease of getting from point A to Point B. For those who know me, you know that this is monumental. I appreciated the breath-taking sights offered by HK, Victoria Peak and HKIS to name two. Last but not least, I, rather my taste buds thoroughly enjoyed a cuisine that I am unable to obtain in my current home of residence, any guesses?
Teach
I learned a lot from the conference I attended and have recommendations for those who wish to get “apped” (download educational apps for their iPads, iPhones, and/or iTunes). As for Hong Kong, I learned the following, thanks to Wikipedia.
Hong Kong is located on China’s south coast, 60 km (37 mi) east of Macau on the opposite side of the Pearl River Delta. It is surrounded by the South China Sea on the east, south, and west, and borders the Guangdong city of Shenzhen to the north over the Shenzhen River.
While legally part of China, Hong Kong is secluded from mainland China as a dependency with a high degree of autonomy. Within the PRC, the former colony has its own constitution which lays out its own laws, separate immigration controls, financial system and is officially bi-lingual (Cantonese and English). It also enjoys western-style freedoms unheard of on the Chinese mainland. The democratic system and ideals of a free and open society are firmly rooted here. Also rooted was respect shown by proprietors. In India I get, “Excuse me madam.” In Hong Kong, “Excuse me missy.”
